Frequently Asked Questions

Why did you change your format? The old once-weekly, one-builds-on-the-other class format was proving difficult for many people to handle. With the full lives people have these days, it made perfect sense to construct a class that could flex with their ever-changing schedules. This way, owners get a complete, quality experience because they set the schedule so they won't miss anything!

If I start my class in one location, do I have to take all my classes there? No! You can go to any of the locations for any of the classes. Stay at one location, or go to all four. It's up to you!

Can I still take a "normal" class? Absolutely! All the information you would get from my old classes is contained in these new modules. All of the standard classes are offered at all locations. So if you want to attend all classes at the same location, you can.

How do I decide how many classes to take? People have different needs at different times, so these packages are meant to fill as many needs as possible. SeeSuggested tracks for help in deciding what/how many classes to take.

How long is each class module? Unless otherwise noted, classes run 50 minutes. The Lecture/Orientation lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours and counts as one class module.

I have an 8-week-old puppy. What should I take? You can take anything you want (once you have attended the Lecture/Orientation). But if you want suggestions of what to sign up for, go to Suggested tracks. Pups less than 16 weeks need lots of socialization/life experience, so the Puppy module is strongly recommended for all our young ones!

I want Canine Good Citizen Certification. Can I still get it through you? I am still an AKC CGC evaluator, and you can still prepare for CGC and Therapy testing through these classes. Check the Suggested Tracks for what to take. I will be scheduling periodic CGC testing modules for those ready to test, and keep in mind that I will always test when you are ready for free.

I want to bring my dog to class but am concerned about his behavior. What should I do? You and your dog may be OK in a regular group class with some coaching, or you may need Reactive Dog class or some private lessons first. To determine the best course for you and your dog, please call/e-mail us to discuss.

What happened to Trickility? It's now part of Clicks & Tricks.

I've already been through your old-style "basics" class. Do I have to take the Lecture/Orientation module before registering for my other modules? It's not required, but it is strongly recommended. I'm always adding new information to my lecture, plus you will get an explanation of how the modules work and also some homework to do before you go to your second module!

What happens if I sign up for a class and then can't come?  This is why the flexible modular class is terrific. Imagine -- you take two classes two Saturdays in a row, but then the next Saturday you can't make it because you have an engagement. Or suddenly you are called out of town. With the "linear" (weekly) setup, you lose out on that class or have to work to make it up somehow. With the modular format, you simply go to the online registration, cancel your attendance at that module, and sign up for the next available module covering the same topic. Then you just pick up where you left off when you come to class! (If you don't cancel, that class comes off your total purchased, so be sure to cancel so you don't lose a class!)

Can I take two classes on the same day? While not prohibited, it's not a good idea for most dogs, and certainly not for puppies. Dogs get full and tired, and people get tired, so for the best learning result, it's best to space them out.

What if a class is full? You can select to be put on a Wait List and will be notified if a spot opens up.

I'm not good with computers. Can I still sign up? Of course! Just call or e-mail to get started. But the online calendar is pretty easy to use, so why not give it a try?

Can I pay online? Not at this time. You can e-mail your registration form, but for now, you still need to mail in a check.
